A Broken Arm Means New Stuff

For me, a broken arm means new stuff here at the Castle. Well, technically it’s a broken wrist. Maybe.

Unfortunately, I fell down a week or so ago. I put my hand out to catch my fall, which is not the best idea. Who knew? Yes, I am a klutz!

Long story short, I am in a brace with a bad sprain and a possible broken wrist, waiting to hear from the Radiologist. I have instructions to not use my right hand. Easier said than done, right?

Sitting around the house with nothing to do is driving me crazy, but it does have a silver lining. I am realizing that it is time to update a few things.

The first thing that I added to the living room was a new clock. If you missed that, you can see that here.

Once that clock went up, I could see that there were a few other accessories in the living room that definitely need a face lift.  This is the view from the living room looking into the kitchen.

See the crosses with red candles? RED candles. This wall has been the same since we moved into this house and I haven’t had red as an accent color in a very long time. There was even a red ribbon around a candle. Not that there is anything wrong with red, it just doesn’t match anything else in the living room.

How is it possible that I haven’t noticed this before now?

I’ve had my eye on these babies for a while now. Lucky me, they were 50% off at Hobby Lobby this week.  It took me less than an hour to buy them and get them hung up! I have to strike while the iron is hot and The Hubs is home to help.

I can’t stand to see nail heads, so I always use sharpies to help disguise them!

Isn’t it pretty? Only there were a few problems. In my excitement of buying them, I forgot to buy candles to go on them! I borrowed a couple from around the house to get a good idea of how they will look.

Once the wooden sconces were hung, I changed out the red ribbon. This herringbone ribbon is a perfect replacement. Much better! Although that candle may be moving before too long.

I couldn’t be happier with the new look!

Now that the walls are updated, I’m looking at that ugly surround sound speaker and the bar stools and thinking that maybe they are the next update in the living room. Shhh… Don’t tell The Hubs. I think I’m already giving him a heart attack with the new updates! I am sure that while I am thinking that a broken arm means new stuff, The Hubs may not agree with me.
