Welcome to the Creative Craft Blog hop! I always love the third Thursday of the month because I get to see so many talented people’s crafts. Don’t you? Today I’m sharing an easy way to make a Fall wooden bead garland.
A great big shout out to Sarah from Birdz of A Feather for being our host every month. It’s not easy herding cats people, so give her some love when you see her. If you are coming here from Sarah’s, WELCOME! I am so glad that you are here.
Now let’s get started making a Fall Wooden Bead Garland!
On a recent trip to Hobby Lobby I found this wooden round sign.
It has 4 circular rounds and beads all on a a jute string with a tassel.
I thought it would make a great wooden bead garland.
Step 1
I took all beads and and 3 rounds off of the string that connected the rounds together.
Step 2
I removed the bottom round and painted it black.
Once the paint dried, using a chalk pencil, I drew the lettering onto the wooden round.
Step 3
Next step, paint the lettering.
Honestly, I would have normally used a paint pen for this step, however mine had dried up.
Step 4
To make restringing the wooden sign and adding the beads easier, I wrapped the last 10 inches of the twine in blue tape.
Then I strung the wooden sign back on.
Then strung my wooden beads.
Once my beads were on, I triple knotted the end of the twine closest to the last bead, making sure to leave a 2 inch tail.
Step 5
To hide the tail of the twine where I tied my knot, I added a leather fall leaf.
Simply add glue to the leaf stem, stick it into the hole on the last bead.
Once that is done, glue the tail of the jute to the stem on the leaf.
Step 6
Add a bow.
Using Fall colors, make a bow to add just above the wooden sign.
I flipped the sign over and tied the bow between the first and second wooden beads above the sign.
My Fall Wooden Bead Garland is complete!
I can think of several places to use it and I’ve already got plans for the other rounds that were part of the original sign.
