Happy 4th of July!

I don’t decorate all that much for the 4th of July, but I sure do love the holiday! The 4th brings back so many great memories of food, fun and fireworks. The cicadas and lightening bugs are out. Front porch – and back porch- rocking, drinking lemonade and visiting with neighbors. Kids having to be home when the street light comes on. Summer is in full swing.

I’ve already shared my July table with you…

and my stars and stripes wreath.

Today I’m working in the backyard. Getting ready to grill and watch some fireworks. I love to hang chinese lanterns in the trees above our new patio. I found these fun party lanterns, half priced, at Michaels.

These  stars and stripes lanterns came from the dollar tree. They even light up!

I couldn’t wait to use them to decorate for the 4th!

I like to use jute to hand them from the trees. It blends in and has a great natural look. Once the lanterns are hung up you can hardly see the jute.

I like to vary the sizes and the heights that the lanterns hang.  I have to make sure that they are high enough that The Hubs doesn’t bang his head on them, yet low enough that I can turn on the lighted ones without dragging out a ladder. That would take all of the fun out of it!

Don’t they give the patio a fun holiday party feel? I think that I am all set for the 4th of July. The rockers are on the patio, ice cream is ready to churn, and the BBQ grill is on. Sadie, my dog, is photo bombing all of my photos!  Time to sit back, relax, drink a little lemonade and watch some fireworks.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
