How To Dress Your Christmas Bed

updating the master bedroom part 2

We’ve all seen the beautiful beds decorated for the holidays on Pinterest. They are so pretty! I may not have a Pin worthy decorated bed, but I can share how to dress your bed for Christmas. Or at least how I dress my bed.

This is what my bed usually looks like.

White Matelasse quilt, Pottery Barn Shams and duvet folded at the end of the bed in soothing blue, gray, white and tan tones.

A large white fur pillow that goes in front.

I have the softest sheets ever.

We keep the Master  bed decor pretty simple.

Step 1:

Decorate your headboard and the wall above the bed.

Do all the decorating you plan to do above the bed before making it.

I added in this fun garland that is also on my Christmas tree in the master.

A fun red and white polk-a-dot bow finishes the head board decor.

The Merry Christmas sign was in the breakfast room last year, but I thought it would work better in here this year.

Step 2:

Start with the basics.

Put the most comfortable sheets you own on the bed.

Add your comforter, duvet, bedspread or quilt.

I’m still using my white quilt as we love the weight and how cozy it is.

Also, the matching white pillow shams were added back in.

Step 3:

Add in fun  holiday pillows on your bed.

These pretty red with white snowflake pillows are some of my all time favorites and are a new addition this year.

However, I didn’t  originally plan on using them here.

I planned on using these.

A quick tip to help you if you can’t decide on decor.

Take a picture with your phone and look at it.

You would be amazed at how easy it makes your decision!

I liked these – a lot.

But when I took the photo, I liked the red snowflake pillows better!

I have one last pillow to add to my bed.

This Christmas Tree Pom Pom  pillow.

I saw a similar one at Grandinroad, but it was out of my budget.

So I made my own.

Yes, the one from GrandinRoad is prettier, but for the price difference I really like this one.

One last tip on the pillows.

Never put so many pillows on your bed that you exceed 1/3 of the beds space.

I try and keep my pillows to a minimum in here since I share the space with The Hubs.

I mean, he does live here too…

Step 4:

Add a cozy throw or blanket to the end of your bed!

I chose this white faux fur throw.

Just looking at it reminds me of winter, snow and all things cozy.

Step 5:

And just in case you were trying for one of those fancy Pinterest decorated beds.

Add in a fun holiday vignette!

At least just for the pictures. Ha!

I hope you enjoyed how to dress your bed for Christmas.

Seriously, for me it all comes down to comfort.

Not just what looks good, but feels good too.

Thankfully, I feel like I can have both.

Be sure to check in on Monday when Terrie from Decorate And More WithTip, Corine from
