New Bedroom Barn Door

We have a new bedroom barn door! You have no idea how excited I am! It’s Been in the works for over a year now.

I know that a year is a really long time, but I just couldn’t decide on the style of door!

These were the original doors, which match the rest of the interior doors in the house.

They were fine.

I just never loved how skinny they were. I certainly didn’t love the “snick” sound they made when they closed.

That may sound odd, but The Hubs gets up at 4:30 for work every morning.

And every morning I would here that metal “snick” sound. Grrr…..

Don’t get me wrong, it never deterred me from rolling over and going back to sleep!

I knew that I didn’t want a door that was too country.

Nor one that was too elaborate.

Most doors I found were too short and a custom one was way above my budget.

I found this door, which was the right price and the right style, but it was 4 inches too short.

The Hubs came to the rescue and added the extra 4 inches.

After removing both of the original doors. We also removed the door jams and hinges.

Which left some major holes. The hubs filled the holes in with wood putty -several times – and a marathon of sanding commenced!

Oh, the dust!

However, once is was all cleaned up and painted, the new door was hung. I am in love!

There is only one thing wrong with the new door, the new paint color doesn’t match the rest of the trim.

Yep, I’m back to my “give a mouse a cookie” decorating!

So, my next step will be painting the trim in both the bedroom and the bathroom.

A Queens work is never done!

Before you go, I have one more door update to share with you!

One of my favorite bloggers is Miss Mustard Seed. Did you know that she has her own line of decorating products?

If you look closely  in the farm style decor section at Hobby Lobby you will see Miss Mustard Seed’s tags on a few items.

I found this cute sign and knew it was made just for me.

Many a guest have been a little confused trying to find the powder room here at the castle.

Three doors all together in a small hallway contribute to the problem.

Putting the Laundry room sign on the door to the laundry will hopefully help with this problem!

One last time, a quick look at the new bedroom barn door.

Just looking at it makes me happy!

Until next time…..
