October road trips should be my theme for the month so far. I have been home three days out of 17 so far! Crazy, I know!
So where have I been? All over Texas and Oklahoma!
October 2 -3 found The Hubs and I visiting our oldest son in Austin, TX. We stayed at the funkiest place, Lone Star Court in the Domain area. Right outside of the hotel were the cutest food trucks! Unfortunately, they are only open on the weekends.
Lone Star Court leans toward a retro style that Austin is known for.
Two curved buildings surround a courtyard filled with several fire pits, games and a pool.
Don’t want to play? Then you might enjoy sitting, reading a good book in the rocking chairs provided for guests outside of each room.
Rooms are a little funky, but super clean and fun. Each room comes with a retro style fridge, small reading area, armoire and beds. A barn door leads to the bathroom.
The bathroom boasts the prettiest tile, fluffy towels, natural soaps and comfy robes. This was a huge bathroom by hotel standards!
Once you’ve had breakfast onsite, The Domain mall is just outside your back door. The Domain is an outdoor mall, perfect for a little shopping or a little exercise to work off all of the food. It was raining the days we were there so we skipped the mall. We waved a sad good-bye to our son and headed home.
October 4 had me meeting up with my PoKeeno girls for the next part of my October road trips extravaganza . The gals and I jumped into our cars and headed to Round Top, Texas for a few days of shopping.
We stayed at the cutest farm house! It was out in the country, a short 5 minute drive into Warrenton, TX. We had coffee on the back porch and watched the deer say hello every morning!
We shopped for four HOT days. If you haven’t been to Round Top to shop, it is an experience! You will find a little bit of everything.
Those of us in the group who are crazy, dressed up in our Sunday best and attended the Junk Gypsy Prom O Rama!
The prom was so much fun! We danced, had our pictures taken with the Junk Gypsies, met Jep from Duck Dynasty and laughed our way through the evening!
We even adopted a sweet girl at the porta potties who was there by herself. It’s only right to share the fun!
If you are ever in Round Top, then eating at Royers is a must! Royers appears to be an old filling station, however what it lacks in space it more than makes up for in personality!
Just looking around, you would expect it to be a burger joint, however it isn’t. Pasta, Seafood and Steak are all on the menu. So yummy!!! Be sure to make reservations in advance, or it’s highly likely that you will be turned away at the door.
If you are wondering if I bought anything during our trip, the answer would be yes!
I bought this antique radio. News flash. It works! AM only. It needs a little love and and some new buttons, but for $35.00 it was a steal.
I can’t wait to get home and play with it!
We sadly said good-bye and headed home. I was at home for a whole day. Just long enough to unpack, do a few loads of laundry and pack again. Then it was on the road to Oklahoma.
I think that I will leave that part of my October road trips for another day!
Until next time…
