It’s time. Time for One Room At A Time/ half bath . Since we moved in almost three years ago, I’ve slowly been working on my half bath here and there. But never completing it. I’m so excited to finally be working – and hopefully – completing this room. AND it’s a big time bonus that Terrie from Decorate And More With Tip, Teresa from Through A Vintage Door and I will be working on the same room at the the same time. So you will be getting three times the inspiration. Woo Hoo!
2 1/2 Years Ago
So before I share what I want to do, let me show you the before and what we’ve already done.
This was the Powder Room Vanity when we moved in.
Very dark and outdated.
I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the second thing that I did to this house after we moved in was to remove all wallpaper in the Half Bath, the laundry and the guest bath.
Today
Here’s what my half bath looks like today.
It’s not bad, it’s just not great!
And it looks much better in the photo’s than in person.
I think the reason I haven’t ever gotten this room finished is the flooring.
When we moved in, we put in all new flooring throughout the house.
I thought I was ordering a mostly white hex floor with a few black hex tiles here and there.
What I got was a very busy, crazy quilt of pattern.
This room is also a challenge because of this odd niche next to the toilet.
I’m grateful for the cabinets above, who doesn’t love extra storage?
While there is not much that can be done about this area at this point, I think I can still make this a room that we love.
If you’ve followed me for very long, you know how many times I’ve changed out the art on this wall!
I’ve honestly lost count.
I love these botanical prints, however I may update or change the frames.
The inspo board above shows this beautiful botanical print peel and stick wallpaper.
While I was looking for lighter and brighter, I saw this wallpaper and fell in love!
I plan on using it above the vanity on the mirror wall.
Also on the mirror wall I plan on removing the existing light fixture and installing these sconces beside the mirror.
The current light fixture is pretty but a bit modern for the room.
Also, it gives off weird shadows that make the room feel super dark and make the gray walls look purple at times.
On the right hand side of the vanity there is a full size towel bar.
I’ve always wondered why they would put such a large bar in such a small room!
So the large towel bar is going and I’m installing this pretty brushed gold towel ring.
I’ve changed out every piece of hardware except for the toilet paper holder and the toilet lever.
Both of those will be changing also.
I still haven’t decided on a new rug that won’t fight with the wallpaper or floor, but I do want to add in a new one.
Plus, I’ll be adding in a few new accessories.
We will be posting our progress every Friday for the next three weeks, so mark your calendar so that you don’t miss anything.
Also, if you follow along Terrie and I plan on sharing the projects for our half baths during the week on our regular blog posts!
