Tic Tack Toe Board

Tic Tac Toe Board

Hey y’all! Today is Craft with us and my friends Terrie from Decorate With Tip and More, Corine from Junk to Gems, Teresa from Through A Vintage Door and I are all crafting up a storm. Today I’m sharing how to finish a Tic Tac Toe board!

I found this giant one at Hobby Lobby.

It’s huge and measures out at 24″ x 24″ X 1″ and you can lay it flat on a table or it can hang on a wall.

With our family Summer BBQ’s coming up I thought that it might be fun to finish one out for all of the littles – and not so little’s to play with!

Bonus that it’s on Sale right now!

Supplies

1 – Tic Tac Toe Board

2 – Scrapbook paper

3 – Mod Podge

4 – Paint brush

5 – Sand Paper

6 – Acrylic Paint

Step 1

Paint or stain your board.

I thought long and hard whether to stain or paint this but finally went with paint for a fun colorful game.

Painting the white bottom and sides was my first step, followed by painting the cross bars and the edge navy blue.

Step 2

While my board was drying, it was time to work on my X and O’s!

I chose two different types of scrapbook paper, one for the X and one for the O.

Flip the paper upside down, trace your wooden game pieces with at pencil.

Step 3

Cut out the traced pieces.

Step 4

Apply the cut out scrapbook paper to the wooden shapes.

To apply the paper, first give your wooden letter a good coat of Mod Podge.

Then apply the scrapbook paper cut out.

Firmly push on the paper to remove any air bubbles and to make sure the paper sticks well.

I like to use an old credit card to do this.

Let dry completely.

TIP: Once these have dried, take a sanding block and lightly sand the edge to make sure no paper is hanging over the edge.

Once the Mod Podge has dried, apply a top coat of Mod Podge to the letters.

To make sure that the edges are properly sealed, I like to paint both the top and sides.

Let dry.

Now all that’s left to do is have some fun!

I love how my tic tac toe board turned out and can see all of the fun we will have!

Now don’t forget to head on over to Teresa’s, Corine’s and Terrie’s to see what they have crafted – they never disappoint!
