Today is one of my favorite days of the year. The day I decorate my traditional Christmas tree. My tree has no theme. No beautiful uniform ornaments or this years trends. Instead it is a family tree that has a little bit of everything on it. It is a true representation of our family!
Even though it is a little bit of this, and a little bit of that I think it’s beautiful.
I have a few steps that I do every year to insure that the tree is pretty and I am happy to share them with you!
Fluff The Tree
This may be one of the most important step that you can do to achieve a pretty tree.
I start at the bottom and work my way up.
Tree Topper
Once you have your tree fluffed, it’s time to add the lights.
My tree is pre-lit so I can skip this step and go straight to adding my tree topper.
To hid the ugly base of my star I added in a large bow.
Which leads me to the next step!
Trim The Tree
Add in any bows, garland, picks etc.
This year I added in bows with trailing ribbon and skipped the rest.
Fill The Holes
Got any “holes” in your tree?
Fill them with your largest ornaments or greenery picks.
Ornaments
Once I have my largest ornaments on I like to add in any bulbs or round ornaments that I have.
Have Fun With It
Once I have the traditional type ornaments on, it’s time to fill in the rest of the tree with the fun ornaments!
Unusually long glass ones…
Vintage ones, fun ones, kid ones….
Speaking of “kid” ones.
If you have littles in your family keep the non-breakable ones low.
You never know when little hands – and mouths – will grab an ornament when least expected!
My tree is decorated and all that is left to do is wrap a few presents.
Grab a hot drink, turn the lights dow low, and enjoy my traditional Christmas tree!
Please be sure and visit my friend Terrie to see how she decorated their Christmas trees.
You won’t want to miss it!
