I’ve been helping a friend paint her mom’s house this week. However, after work I’ve been working in the garden.
The weather has been “perfect” for the plants. Lots of rain, followed by lots of sun. It’s one of the reasons I love Spring so much in Texas!
Last fall a neighbor asked me to go dumpster diving with her immediately. What she failed to tell me was that they were tearing down an old house nearby and wanted to raid the ruins before it got hauled away. We braved debris, dirt, a running tractor and the demolition forman saved us from going into a rattlesnake infested barn. We were both victorious and took home some old gates. The gates would make an awesome trellis.
I was at JoAnnes recently and I saw these tin letters and garden bugs. Perfect for the garden gate.
I took them home and painted them to give the gate and the garden a little fun and color!
My garden gate is ready for the beautiful vines of my esperanza!
I’ve planted mandevilla and tiny pansies in the pots by the garden shed doors.
The mosses that we planted last year between the patio stepping stones are thriving. If you look really hard you can see a brown lizard. When I took the photo, I was so focused on the moss I never saw him!
The pots I planted a few weeks ago are thriving! I still haven’t figured out what to do with my decapitated angel.
The wood fern is growing daily. Hosta’s are peeking their heads out of the ground over in the shade garden.
My salvia’s are going crazy!
The plants around the pond are starting to take over.
Thank goodness for perennials! I’ve had so little time to devote to working in the garden that it would be bare if not for all of those beauties.
I still have so much work to do. Hopefully next week will be nice and sunny and I will get to work in my garden. It’s my therapy!
One last thing, before closing today – Happy Easter! I hope that you, your family and friends have a wonderful day!
