Chalkboard Ghosts

I’ve seen a lot of things made out of chalkboards, but never chalkboard ghosts!

I was at Michaels a few months ago and found these blackboard shapes that were on sale for 80% off. I’m not sure what they were suppose to be, but to me they immediately reminded me of ghosts. I wasn’t completely sure what I was going to do with them, however I figured that they were cute and the price was right so why not buy them? I would decide what to do with them later.

My first thought was to just draw the ghosts faces on with chalk and be done with them.  Then I saw these cute eyes in the Halloween section and I couldn’t resist buying them.

These were so fun to make. All you need is a little imagination, chalk or chalk pen, glue and eyes.

As you can see, I mixed everything up! I did a little of everything. No chalkboard ghost has the same eyes!

As I was making my ghosts I couldn’t help thinking that they were so cute and had so much personality – much like my family. My chalkboard ghosts would be perfect as placards for my Halloween table.

I pulled out my chalk ink pen and started decorating each ghost. You could also use regular chalk, I just like that chalk pen doesn’t wipe off as easily.

So cute, crazy and fun! Just like my family.

I did a few simple designs to start with, but before long I was adding more designs to each one.

The really great thing about using the chalkboard pen is that I can change the personality and the name on each chalkboard ghost as needed.

My little ghosts really give my Halloween table a lot of fun and personality! I’ll share my Halloween table with you later. Promise. Right now I’m still tweaking little things here and there on it.

These chalkboard ghosts were so easy, inexpensive and I have to say that I haven’t had this much fun decorating in a long time.  As I am writing this, it occurs to me that sometimes it is the simple childlike things that bring so much joy.  Having fun is what Halloween is all about, right? Well, maybe the candy too!
