Salt and Pepper Snowmen

snow peopleHappy Thursday! Today I’ve got such a fun craft for our Creative Craft Hop. Salt and Pepper Snowmen. And women. They make great ornaments and shelf sitters! Not only do I love how they turned out but they are truly easy and fun to make.

Thanks to Sara from Birdz of a Feather for hosting this fun hop, it’s truly one of my favorite hops each month.

If you are visiting from Carol’s at Blue Sky At Home thanks for stopping by, I am so happy that you are here! Didn’t you love her yarn Christmas tree?

Before we start I apologize for this post being so long, however there are a lot of small steps!

snowman supplies

The Supplies

Salt And Pepper shakers

Hot glue and gun

Smooth styrofoam balls

various decor items: pipe cleaners, boas, jewelry pieces, rhinestones, fabric etc.

Toothpick

Orange acrylic paint pen

Glitter

Mod Podge

Paint Brush

Adding the head to the snowman

Step 1

Lets start with the head.

I like using these smooth styrofoam balls.

painting toothpicks

Using a toothpick, paint the ends orange.

Once dry, cut off the ends and insert them into the middle of the ball for a nose.

painting blush on a snowman

Dry brush red paint on either side of the nose for rosy cheeks.

Lightly cover the ball with Mod Podge and apply a light sprinkle of white glitter.

adding the eyes to the snow people

Add 3mm black pin eyes to the face.

You could also use several of these below the nose for a mouth.

Or for a mouth color in black  dots with a sharpie!

The Body

Next, using Mod Podge paint “snow” onto the bottom of the salt shaker, then sprinkle on Silver Champagne glitter.

Fill the body 1/3 to 1/2 full of white glitter.

Using hot glue, glue on the head to the body.

Decorate

Now for the fun part – decorating your snowman – or snow lady!

You will be using the top of the salt and pepper shaker to create a hat.

This is where I glued on old pieces of jewelry, rhinestones … whatever makes you happy!

adding a hat to a snow lady

Once you are done with your hat, glue it to the head of the snowman.

Now, decorate the body!

This time I simply glued on a boa and added some jewelry!

Here are a few others that I’ve made…
