Summer Backyard

Now that the rains have stopped and the weather has warmed up I’ve been working on my summer backyard. I swear we skipped spring here and have jumped right into summer. I’m not complaining, I’ll take warm weather any day.

I’m not done by any stretch of the imagination and it’s taken me a good month to get this far. However, I’m starting to make some headway! I started by giving my patio a little refresh. A good cleaning, a new rug, plants, and painting my back door were the perfect starting place!

table

My boys bought me a new patio table for Mother’s day. Lucky me! The lid raises up and becomes a bar height table. The base turns into an small ice chest. Too cute.

Want to know a secret? I tend to be a impulse planter. I go to the nurseries and buy whatever looks good, bring it home and plop it into pots. Sometimes this works out really well, there are times not so much. As you can see I still need to add a few more plants to some of my pots!

My lab, Sadie, loves the patio! Or maybe she just loves her picture taken since she seems to be in all of my photos.summer backyard

This is my view from my chairs under the trees. As much as I like sitting on the patio, I love the view too.  chair

Speaking of chairs, I bought  these adirondack chairs last summer. I never really liked the color, but they were super comfy.

Unfortunately, the paint did not hold up well at all.

Honestly, I didn’t even want to sit on them.

A couple of coats of paint made them beautiful again!

Again, I used the same Modern Masters Front door paint that I used on the front and back doors.

I’ve painted the doors, a clock and the chairs and still have paint left in the quart!

This corner of the yard is the perfect place to sit in the evening.

Especially as our backyard sits on the west side of the house.

Like my sister says ” It’s too hot for the hot tub” to sit on the patio in the early evening.

As you can see, we need to plant some more stepables ( moss ) and a few more plants for color in the beds.

I would truly love it if someone were able to teach me how to train my cat how to stay out of the beds!

Do I hear laughter?

pool

And last but not least, the crop circle is gone and my redneck pool is up and running!

Again, not completely swim suit ready, but it’s getting close! Definitely needs a  few more fun, cute things before the pool opens. Maybe some lantern lights? A few more flamingos?

sign

I do have a new sign.

A girl can dream, but I’m not holding my breath!

For now I still have a little more work to do.

Until next time….

  1. I love it! That new table is terrific, and that paint color is wonderful! All your containers look fine and full to me. I just planted two containers, but need to paint the containers themselves (bass ackwards, I know). They keep saying we’ll have rain here, but it keeps going around us – we need it already! Happy weekend, Tammy.

    1. Rita I have several terra cotta pots that probably need painting too – that are full of flowers! I just keep finding other things to do. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get the rain your garden needs. Have a good weekend!

  2. Wow. I love your patio and the pool is so refreshing. I have a brown thumb so looking at all that beautiful color makes me jealous. Love the blue combo too in the cushions and rug. It all goes perfectly with your house color. Love it!

    1. Thanks Cindy. We love sitting outside, so I try to make this our retreat. I have to admit when the temps start to rise I live in that pool!
