Happy Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras y’all!

Okay. I know what you are thinking. Boobs and beads. You would be right AND you would be wrong.

You will find it all about Boobs and beads on Bourbon street.

But get off of Bourbon street and you will find that it is actually a coastal celebration of the three wise men finding Jesus.

You will find family friendly Mardi Gras  parades all up and down the coast.

Yes, they throw beads,  moon pies,  shoes, candy and a whole plethora of unusual things.

My husbands best friend is from Biloxi MS and he introduced us to a different kind of Mardi Gras.

And we fell in love with it.

Both of my son’s birthdays fall in the Mardi Gras season.

My youngest – who lived in New Orleans for awhile – requested a King Cake and Mardi Gras decor for his birthday celebration.

Since we have been to many parades we certainly have the beads and decor.

Plus, we are open to any excuse to make a king cake!

If you haven’t had one, find a GOOD reputable bakery who specializes in them.

Or  be like me and make them for yourself.

You won’t be disappointed.

Am I good at decorating for Mardi Gras?

No.

But there is something about all of the color, the shine and the chaos that is super fun.

Plus, it’s a bonus that I get to use all of my crowns!

I will be leaving my decor up until Fat Tuesday – I think.

It would be dishonest of me to say that for sure as I can’t wait to get started on Spring and Easter!

For now though, I’ll be sitting here and enjoying the festive vibes, celebrating the 3 wise men finding Jesus and anticipate the Easter season to come.
