Hand Painted Glasses

Long before I blogged, I hand painted glasses. My niece recently called me and asked if I would be willing to paint some glasses for her. The glasses are for her sister- in law and her bridal party. Of course, I said yes!

My niece had been looking at Pinterest for ideas and came up with these glitter glasses.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always a little leery of all Pinterest posts. I have had some really great results and I’ve had some absolute disasters.  When my niece showed me these glasses, I thought it would be a perfect time to test this Pin. Would it be fabulous? Or would it be a fail?

My niece sent me the wedding colors along with the names of the bridesmaids, asking me to paint a glass for each bridesmaid.

Although not all, here are just a few of the things I used to make the glasses. I also used glass paint and Modge Podge.

The instructions are simple. Paint the glass the color of your choice.  Let dry. Repeat. After the second coat of paint, sprinkle on the glitter. Let the paint completely dry. I let mine dry over night.

Once the first two steps are completed, coat the painted area with Modge Podge and sprinkle a second coat of glitter onto the glass. Again, you let it completely dry.

When you have your glass all glittered up, it’s time to make it washable. You do this by spraying your glitter with two coats of Rust-oleum specialty lacquer.

Now you have a finished glass! It was really that easy.

After we finished, we wanted to add a little jewelry to the glasses. We made wine markers from old wine corks, tassels and crystal charms.

I think the wine charms turned out so cute, and they were another Pinterest find.

Also, the bridesmaids initials on each wine charm is a great personal touch.

So how would I rate this Pin? Fabulous? Or fail? Honestly, this Pin was Fabulous. The instructions were very easy to follow. I do admit to changing up a few things, but not because there was anything wrong with the instructions. I have just done this for a long time and know what works for me. The skill level? Beginner.

If you would like to check out the Pins we found on how to make your own hand painted glasses, you can find those here.

Now it’s time to wrap these beauties up and ship them out!
