Summer is Almost Here
Summer is almost here. Spring has gone by with the blink of an eye and it’s almost time for school to be out, outdoor cookouts, swimming and cranking up the air conditioner.
Today is Ten on the 10th. Y’all know it’s one of my favorite posts each month. Today’s theme is a little varied. Mother’s Day, End of School, and Spring/Summer. Before I go much further, I want to thank Katie from Let’s Add Sprinkles for hosting this month!
My theme this month is End of School/ Summer.
When my boys were small I loved giving them a little basket full of goodies to kick the summer off. Unfortunately, my boys have all grown up, so I decided to make my niece, Beep, a goody basket!
I made a fun hooded towel for Beep, which was where I started with my basket’s theme.
My boys used to love the hooded towels when they were small.
The towels covered their head and were generous enough to wrap up their bodies.
These are SUPER easy to make. All you need is a bath towel and a hand towel. I’ll be sharing how to make these soon!
Next, I hit the Dollar Tree to find a basket and a few goodies.
I found this pretty pink basket, which was the perfect size for what I had in mind.
Once I got it home I added Beeps name to the bucket with some vinyl I cut out on my Silhouette.
I also picked up a fun water bottle. A Girls gotta stay hydrated!
I also found a plain pair of sunnies, which I later added some fun butterflies to bling them up a bit.
Some bubbles, a colorful whirly gig and a few sponges rounded out the goodies in my basket.
The sponges were cut up in strips and tied together to make water sponges.
When wet, the sponges are super soft and fun for the littles to throw around!
Total cost of all things fun in my basket came out to $9.94!
If I count tax, I may have gone over slightly but I think the extra .80 was worth it!
The next stop is at Apple Street Cottage. Then when you are finished there, please join me in visiting the rest of my fellow Ten on the 10th bloggers!
If you like it, be sure to Pin it!
Adorable. Gift baskets are so much fun and this is a great end of school year gift.
Thanks Katie! I already gave it to my niece and she is having a great time with it!
This is so much fun and a great little gift bucket for anyone. I can’t wait to see the tutorial on how to make the bath towel.
Thanks Terrie, bath towel tutorial coming up soon!
Hi Tammy, this summer gift basket is really cute! I know your niece will love it. 🙂 She has the cutest nickname, too! I’m glad making those towels are making the rounds again ~ they were perfect for drying the kids off and then they could play Superman (or Superwoman!) and run around the house holding them out!!! What my kids did, anyways. 😉 Glad to be with you for 10 on the 10th.
Happy Mother’s Day to you,
Barb 🙂
Barbara my kids loved the towels! They played super heroes with them too. So much so that we finally made them capes so that the towels would be clean for getting out of the pool or tub! Good times!!!
Such a fun idea! I adore the fun sponges. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Laura, the sponges are a big hit here with all of the little’s. Although we have to keep the bigger kids from freezing them… always something here at the castle! lol
What an adorable gift basket! I love it! Those sponges and towel are just too cute! Can’t wait until you show me how to make one! Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day! Hugs!!
Thanks Benita! They are super easy….and fun.
Tammy, this is precious! You are a super sweet aunt. I think I would make these baskets for my grand girls when they here to visit in June. Love the inspiration!! I love Dollar Tree! I shop locally and online. Thanks for the list of items.
Thank you Carol! I sure enjoyed making it. Be sure and share yours if you make them, I always love to see what others come up with!
This is such a wonderful basket of goodies for playing outdoors. Very clever, Tammy. Your niece is a lucky girl!
Thank you Ann!
Love this basket. My kids loved their hooded towels too. I’d forgotten about them since that was decades ago. Look forward to seeing how you make them. Happy Mothers Day
Thanks Cindy! I had almost forgotten the towels too until I saw one recently. It HAS been awhile! Happy Mother’s Day to you too.
Such a sweet idea to welcome in summer for children! A great end of school gift… So colorful and bright, too!!
Thanks Patti, end of school baskets used to be some of my favorite things to gift my boys. Always something to do with water, games etc. As they got older I added brain teasers, flash cards and books. I really miss those days.
