Adding Blue Decor
Happy New Year, Y’all! I’m so happy to be back and ready to do so many projects in my home that I will share with you. Today I thought it would be fun to show how I add blue decor in my home. Specifically, my kitchen hutch.
Honestly it is super simple.
I like to start with a neutral background.
In this case I loaded my white hutch with a ton of my white dishes.
Dishes
It looks pretty, but let’s face it, it can be better!
I like to evenly sprinkle the area I’m decorating with color and to use different items.
Like more dishes in blue and white, layered on top of my white dishes.
When using dishes, adding in different sizes and items like these small bowls.
At Easter I like to plop in colorful eggs for fun and color.
Ribbon
I know a lot of people don’t like using ribbon, but I am not one of those.
Using ribbon here and there adds texture, color and dimension.
Art
I love to hang art in unexpected places.
The back of my hutch wall, on the front edge of a book shelf , propped up on an easel on a table are just a few!
Textiles
Don’t forget to add in textiles.
In this case it was an easy decision to add in some napkins on a kitchen hutch.
Again, like with the ribbon, it gives texture, color and dimension.
As well, as truly being functional since it is right by my table.
Whimsy
Not everyone would agree with this but I love adding a little Whimsy.
Things I love that not everybody has.
Like this pretty pie bird.
And did you notice the mini white creamers?
I have a cow, a duck, and a dinosaur.
Truly, I love them!
Adding blue decor shouldn’t be hard, but you should LOVE it!
Until next time…

Pin It For Later!
Looks perfect! I also love using white dishes for the base decor on my hutch. Love all the fun pieces you placed on the hutch. Happy New Year Tammy, can’t wait to see what you will be doing this year.
Thank you so much!
This looks amazing, definitely grabs your attention a lot more than being all white. My wife loves this and we’re going to try to add some color to our china cabinet this spring! Thanks for the great idea.
Thanks Jacob!
