Christmas in July Ornament
Hey y’all! In case you haven’t heard it’s Christmas in July AND it’s also the Creative Craft Hop … two of my favorite things! Today I’ve got a cute and easy Christmas in July ornament that anyone can make! These ornaments could also be used as gift tags – which I love!
Also a great big shout out to Sara from Birdz of a Feather and Donna from Modern on Monticello for hosting this hop every month! They rock!
If you are coming here from Allyson’s – I am so glad that you are here!
Now let’s get started!
Supplies
wooden ornament rounds – I found mine at Hobby Lobby last year! You can find similar ones here.
Paint colors of your choice
Paint brush
Step 1
Paint your ornament white with acrylic paint.
Don’t forget to do the back!
Step 2
Paint the top of the ornament gold. Or silver – or the color of your choice.
Step 3
This step you can skip if you are confident in painting the shape of your tree.
If not, then lightly draw a line in the middle of your ornament the size of the tree.
Step 4
Now it’s time to paint.
Starting with grass green paint your tree.
I started at the top making quick brush strokes from the middle to the outside edge.
Do this on both sides.
Remember to make the strokes smaller at the top and gradually get larger as you work down.
Let dry a little.
Step 5
Now grab some lime green paint and repeat step 4.
Paint on top of the grass green leaving some of the grass green showing!
Let dry.
Step 6
Paint a star at the top of the tree in gold. ( somehow I missed photographing this!)
Now it’s time for a little fun – adding polk a dots!
I used red, light blue, dark blue, yellow, hot pink and white.
Using the end of a small paint brush I started adding the dots, randomly, one color at a time.
As you can see there is no rhyme or reason for placement.
Just have fun!
Step 7
If you know me at all you know that I’m not going to miss a chance to add a little bling!
I used some holographic Extreme glitter paint to go over the top.
You can’t see it in the picture, but in person it gives it a pretty shimmer!
Let dry.
Step 8
Last step I promise!
Add your ribbon back to the ornament and you are ready to hang it!
Even though there are are few steps to making this Christmas In July Ornament, I promise you they go quickly and easy to make!
Pleas join me in visiting Jenna to see her Beachy Bottle craft!
Then, when you are done, head on over to all of the other crafters.
Until next time…

lol! You are too funny! If you really want 12 I’m sure I can make you some!
Super cute Tammy, and I love that it can be an ornament or a gift tag! Love the colorful polka dots!
I’m with you on the polka dots Jenna. They are happy!
Beautiful ornament! It shows off your talent and creativity.
Thanks Donna!
Your ornament is beautiful, Tammy and I think the polka dots are my favorite part. It will be the perfect addition to your tree this season!
Thank you Ann. The dots are my favorite part too – they make the ornament!
Where did you get unpainted ornament.
I got the ornament at Hobby Lobby last year. But they repeat things so they may have it again!
Your ornament is super duper cute! I’m a big dot lover so this is right up my alley. My husband always asks me ‘where are the dots’ when I don’t include any on a project.
Oh, that’s too funny about the dots. I love them too!
