Fall at the Castle
It is almost September, y’all! Hard to believe that it is time to decorate for fall at the castle.
I’m slowly pulling out the fall decor, trying to decide what I want to use. It’s so hard!
I really need to stay off of Pinterest. I see something that I really love and immediately want to decorate like that. Even if it doesn’t match my existing decor. Anyone else have that problem?
The good news is that it’s been cooler here in North Texas, usually it’s till well into the 100’s. Let’s face it, no one wants to decorate for fall when it’s so hot.
The bad news is that the reason it is so cool is due to hurricane Harvey. My son is in Austin and my nephew and his wife are in Houston. Both are safe in their homes riding out the floods. My nephew and his wife are expecting a baby on Sept. 2 and we are praying that the baby waits and the water recedes so that she can give birth in a hospital!
Prayers and love go out to all who are in Southeast Texas!
I started decorating in the dining room. This year I wanted to go in a more organic direction. More natural, less bling. I know! I can’t believe I’m saying less bling about anything.
The placemats and napkins are new this year.
I found the woven placemats at Walmart. Honestly, at first I wasn’t sure that I liked them. I decided to give them a try and I am so glad that I did. They are the perfect compliment to the large pumpkin centerpiece.
The napkins are fat quarters that I made into napkins. I bought eight different pieces of material, all in apple green to make the napkins. You know that this girl loves to mix and match.
Small pumpkins make great place cards. I painted orange pumpkins white and added green vinyl names to each one. The white background is perfect for allowing bright colored lettering to show up.
The best part? Once my fall dinner is over, I simply peel the names off and the pumpkins are ready to be used again!
Now that my fall table is finished, I’m starting to get into the mood for fall here at the castle!
Look out Starbucks, I see a pumpkin apple cider in my near future!
Until next time….

Absolutely love the colors you chose to use! The little monogrammed pumpkins are adorable. I need some of those placemats.
Thank you Stacey! The placemats are at Walmart and are a Better Home and Gardens product. (Besides being pretty they were very economical. I think that they were $2.97 each? You gotta love that!)
Ooh, Tammy, I love your DR! Where’d you get that pumpkin? Cool! Your napkins, vinyl names – it all looks really good. I’m still not motivated, but maybe next week.
Glad your family is safe at this point. Mine is too, and my nephew and his pregnant niece (not due till December, but oh gosh, Sept 2 – that’s scary close!) live in Katy. It’s just incredible watching the hourly forecasts for friends and family.

Thank you Rita! I have to admit if it weren’t raining so much I doubt I would be getting out the fall decor. I would much rather be outside. Cooler temps help get into the mood also.
So happy that your family in Katy is safe and sound. I am amazed at how many people I know that have relatives and friends in the Houston area. My heart goes out to all! The recovery is going to be monumental. It reminds me of Katrina’s aftermath. I cannot even imagine!!!
