Guest Room Art
Finishing my guest room restyle has been a challenge y’all. I have been working, with a few stops along the way, trying to mark off the projects one by one. One of the biggest challenges on my list was to find guest room art that I loved. Art that screamed “look at me, I totally rock!”.
I have had this piece of art for some time now and I could never seem to find the right spot for it. I was hoping that the guest room was the perfect place. However, it just wasn’t giving me the wow factor I was looking for.
The criteria of my new art was that it had to be just the right size, of course. The main colors needed to be navy, white, gold and pink. I painted this pink flamingo to go in the guest room, so I didn’t want anything too whimsical.
Other than those few must haves, I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for.
I saw a painting named Bloom by Jenna over at The Painted Apron and I fell in love. She has a tutorial that she shared on how to paint this masterpiece. If you all follow along, you know that I paint a little. However, I have never really painted this style or in this medium very much. Still, I thought that I would give it a try.
This is my finished piece. Not nearly as good as Jenna’s painting, but so much better than the first piece I had.
My painting is a little different in composition and it is certainly different in color than Jenna’s painting, but I think it works well with my guest room.
Since it was a custom piece, I was sure to get the perfect size, color and style that I wanted.
Is it perfect? No. Is it as good as Jenna’s? Oh, definitely no! But I do like it. It has given me that wow factor that I was looking for, and it helps that the price is right, too. I’m also proud that I went out on a limb and tried something new for me. I tend to get in a rut and be very content to stay on the safe road, so I’m marking this project in the win column for all of the above reasons.
I’m so excited that I’m getting really close to finishing up my guest room. Deciding on my guest room art certainly gets me closer to finishing up the never ending to do list. Hopefully, I will be able to share the entire room with you soon!

Oh my gosh Tammy, your painting is awesome! The colors and texture are perfect for your room.
Jenna’s tutorials are always so great and I’m glad to see that someone gave it a try. I’m tempted but I do not paint. Still, it looks doable. 🙂
Stacey,
Thanks so much! I love Jenna’s work, she always has such great stuff. The minute I saw her painting I wanted it – and that’s rare for me. You should try one of her tutorials. My mom was a great artist and one thing she taught me is that all art is good. Makes it easier to try something and get out of my comfort zone. Which some days is pretty small! 🙂 Have a great week!
I am very flattered Tammy, you did a great job! That painting is sold and I’ve been dying to do one for myself! I love the dark background you used to make it pop against the pink-
Thanks Jenna, I want to do another one -or redo this one! Yours is more fluid and has more depth. OCD much? I love your work and can’t wait to see what you do next! Thanks for sharing!
