New Years Organization

New Year’s organization is fast becoming a huge priority for me.  Most days I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast let alone what I am doing that day. Part of getting myself ready for the new year is getting my new calendar up and running.

I know that it is super old school, but I need the repetition of writing things down for me to be organized. I know a lot of you are thinking “just put it on your phone!”. Well, I tried that. Putting it into my phone is like sending it out into space. I send it out and it floats around in never never land promptly forgotten.  Not only do I forget about it, some days I can’t even remember how to retrieve it.

I have been using a planner since high school. I couldn’t wait for the Hallmark free pocket planners to come out so that I could write all of my  nonexistent many appointments down and decorate it. Looking back this cracks me up because the planner size was 3 inches by 3 inches and was a month at a glance format!

The past few years I’ve used The Happy Planner. ( I am not getting paid to love The Happy Planner, I just do!) I am not ashamed to admit that the first time I bought it was because of the name. Who wouldn’t want to use a planner that promised that you would be happy with it, right?

The Happy Planner has a month at a glance page and weekly pages. I use the month at a glance pages to write down the basic appointment and time.

Then I use the weekly pages to list the appointment and all of the details that go with it. There is also plenty of room for me to write reminders and even write down positive thoughts and encouragement. As you can see, the Happy Planner is also set up so that you can decorate it. Of course it makes me happy! I am in heaven!

You can decorate it as elaborately as you want or not at all. I’ve seen some people who’s planners are works of art. A lot of time and money goes into each and every page. I would love to be that dedicated to decorating my planner, but I am not. My pages are more fun than elaborate. Washi tape, stickers and markers are my staples.

The Happy Planner peeps also make a ton of extras to help you decorate your planner.  Stickers, colorful rings, bookmarks, graph paper, and lined paper are just a few of the supplemental accessories.

One of my favorite extra’s is this removable to do page. Sometimes I need a few small reminders but don’t want to use valuable calendar space. These removable to do pages are perfect for making lists!

These are my month at a glance January pages. As I look at this it occurs to me that it is no wonder that I can’t remember anything, I’m just too busy!

Now that I have my planner ready to go, I can move on to other New Year’s organization projects. THAT definitely makes me happy!

Happy New Year’s!

  1. This looks like something I would use efficiently. I bought a great planner back before we moved but it got packed and is never to be found! I’m so disorganized right now!

  2. I love it that you reminded me of those little Hallmark calendars. I loved those!!!
I still use a paper planner and I would never be able to keep it together without it.

    1. Sandy,
I love that you have fond memories of the Hallmark calendars like I do! I can’t live without my calendars either!
      Have a great day!
