Painting the Kitchen Hutch White
I shared with you yesterday what I should be doing but wasn’t. I should have been painting the kitchen hutch white instead of playing hooky in the back yard.
This is what my kitchen hutch looked like up until a few days ago. I loved everything about it. I loved the color, the mismatched pulls, and the size. Then I painted the walls. My beautiful hutch no longer matched anything. Unfortunately, it was time to paint it.
I have a secret to share with you. I am not big on painted white furniture. I love color. The turquoise color on the hutch was my favorite! I loved the color so much that painting my hutch white was almost a painful experience. Which may, or may not, have been the reason I procrastinated painting my kitchen hutch white for a few days. Seriously, what should have taken me two half days, has taken me a week to finish.
However, now that it is done I have to admit that I like it.
Honestly, I worried that my white dishes wouldn’t show up against the white cabinet. But they do.
And when I add any color to the vignette at all, it pops!
The white color also shows up well against the new wall paint color.
Now, you would think that with all of the recent changes in my kitchen that I would be finished. Wrong! So far I changed out all of the appliances but one. I’ve painted the kitchen walls a new color. I’ve painted the kitchen hutch white. What could possibly be left?
I need to paint this small cabinet to match the kitchen hutch. Again, the turquoise paint just doesn’t go all that well with the blue walls.
The gold paint on my chalkboard has always been a little too gold in color. Now that the walls are softer, it is really too gold! So a mini facelift is in the works for my chalkboard!
And as bad as I hate to admit it, once I painted the walls the trim looked terrible! I’m starting to feel like this kitchen update is never ending.
Painting the kitchen hutch white has been an undertaking to say the least. But, it is growing on me.
