Witch Hat Door Hanger
Happy Creative Craft Hop Tuesday! Today my talented friends and I are sharing a few crafts just in case you need inspiration. You know. We’ve all seen the Dollar Tree witch hat door hanger that has been allover social media, but have you ever made one? I haven’t.
But they are so cute I couldn’t resist giving it a try!
Big shout out to Sara from Birds of a Feather for hosting us today. We couldn’t do this without her!
If you are coming here from Terrie’s at Decorate With Tip And More – Yay! I’m so happy that you are here.
Supplies
Here is what you will need to make a witch hat door hanger:
1 wire witch hat frame
2 rolls black mesh
A roll of orange mesh
1 roll of purple mesh
1 roll of green mesh
Black pipe cleaners
Ribbon
Embellishments
Scissors or rotary cutter
Hot glue and glue gun
Step 1
This step may or may not be necessary for you.
In order to use less mesh, trace black paper, cut it out and glue to the form.
If you would rather use mesh, you can do so – you will just need to add a lot more mesh.
Step 2
Wrap the top of the witch hat with the black mesh.
This will take 1 roll of the mesh.
PRO TIP: Due to the shape of the hat, to keep the mesh flat wrap around the front, twist the mesh on the back side, then bring it back to the front.
This is what your witch hat will look like when done.
Step 3
Cut 1 roll of black, green, orange and purple mesh into 8 inch pieces.
You can use a rotary tool like you see here or just use scissors.
Step 4
Lay three different colors of mesh on top of each other, gather in the middle and tie tightly with a pipe cleaner.
I did three different color combinations.
Black, orange and purple.
Green, orange and purple.
black green and purple.
I did ten of each color combination.
Step 5
Starting at one end, tie your mesh to the frame.
Continue tying the mesh to the bar of the brim of the hat until full.
Embellishments
All embellishments are up to you.
Using scrap ribbon I had on hand I made a bow to add to the brim of the hat.
And we all know that I love a little bling, so why not add in shiny rhinestones.
Curly Q’s made out of pipe cleaner were added.
As well as spiders!
At the last minute I added these cute witch legs that I got at the Dollar Tree!
I love how my witch hat door hanger turned out and can’t wait to hang it up for Halloween.
Now please join me in heading over to Donna’s at Modern On Monticello to see how she crafted acorns, then when you are finished there visit all of the participants listed below.
Until next time…

Wow, I love the combination of ribbons, materials, bling and colours you used! You outdid yourself on this one Tammy and it really pops on your front door. You’ve inspired me to jump on the dollar store witch hat band waggon :).
Absolutely adorable. I love the colors and those legs! Your house will be very popular this Halloween!
Oh my, Tammy! You’ve made the perfect witches’ hat! It looks so cool with the colorful meshes, ribbons and bling! And the spider at the tip is definitely the icing on the cake! I love it!

I love this Tammy, super cute and fun! I love those witches legs and the hat is over the top adorable! So clever the way you used different colored mesh for the brim and the embellishments on the hat are another great touch~ and the spider is perfect! You are ready for Halloween!
Wow, your witch wreath looks amazing and really pops on the white door! You’re a real pro at ribbons and mesh.
Pinned this! I haven’t tried one of these out yet either because I don’t do a lot of decorating for Halloween and just stick to Fall because it is easier on my schedule. Your version is stunning and I really like the witch legs and the colors you added to the hat. I may have to try one of these now.
