4th of July

4th 8

I can not believe that it is almost July! I mean really? Where has the summer gone? I hardly ever decorate for the 4th of July, but this year I just seem to be in the mood to bring a little red, white and blue into my outdoor decor.

Summer wreath

Remember this? Well, one big problem with it. It was made of paper and it has rained more here than it has been sunny. It was a little droopy.

So I changed it to this…I have had this bucket forever. The flowers I used in a previous basket for the front door. I really like it. Those are my colors. In fact, after the 4th of July, I will be hanging it again.

Debbie over at Confessions of a Plate Addict made this really cute 4th of July wreath. I saw it on Pinterest and decided to give it a try with a few changes.

What you need:

16′ Styrofoam wreath

1 roll red striped burlap ribbon

1 roll white burlap ribbon

1 roll solid red ribbon

1 roll blue with white star ribbon

scissors.

I started out following Debbie’s instructions. Cut ribbon in 17″ lengths, then cut in half length wise.  After cutting ribbon simply tie around the styrofoam wreath form. This is where I went wrong. Apparently my 16″ wreath form was a different diameter than Debbie’s. My ribbon was cut, so I improvised and used a wire wreath that I already had.

This worked pretty well. I used all three of my red and white ribbon alternating patterns. Do this 3/4 of the way around the wreath and then add the blue until the wreath is finished. I have a wreath hanger on the door but you could also put a burlap loop on the back of the wreath to hang it from.

Very patriotic! Even though I had to improvise, I think it turned out pretty well. Thanks Debbie!

I even added a few flags to the planters for some extra 4th of July spirit! I’m so pumped I am looking for other ways to get my red, white and blue on!

Happy July 4th!

Until next time…
