The Best Dad Ever

I honestly thought that I would skip posting today. Today we celebrate the life of our sweet daddy.

It’s gonna be a tough day. I’m sure we will laugh, cry, share memories, and most importantly celebrate a kind, loving, devout, good man. The best man I have ever known or loved. So please indulge me while I take a few moments and share him with you.

Here he is as a young man. My youngest son looks so much like him at this age, it’s uncanny.

He was such a loving, nurturing father. The best.

He worked hard and played with a laid back style.

As a fireman and paramedic, he believed whole heartedly in giving back to his community and his church. In retirement, he worked endlessly at his church’s food pantry.

He loved his horses almost as much as he loved his grandchildren.

He loved to play music. He played guitar, bass guitar, fiddle and the keyboard. All by ear. He instilled his love for music in all five of his grandchildren. They all play at least one instrument. I’ve joked over the years that my parents and The Hubs parents have had more influence over our children than we have!

It would be impossible to list all of the wonderful things about this man in one small post.  So I won’t even try.

Here’s to the best father, grandfather, friend and mentor anyone could ever have. I am so grateful to God that he put you in our lives. You were truly the BEST DAD EVER!

Love you Daddy!

  1. Tammy, I’m so sorry. My dad is sick with cancer right now and I’ve had so many thoughts about what if…. Dad’s are special to daughters and I just can’t imagine how you all must be feeling. My thoughts are with you.
