Decoupage hearts

Happy January! This is not only my first post since Christmas but it’s also the first Creative Craft Hop of the year. And I am here for it! Today I’ve got a super simple craft that anyone can do. These decoupage hearts are easy, inexpensive and look great.

Please join me in thanking Sara and Donna for being our hostesses for the hops. We honestly could not do this with out them.

Also, if you are visiting from Allyson’s at Southern Sunflowers-Yay! I’m so happy that you are here.

January is a month full of birthday’s for me.

Heart dish – or dish of your choice

Mod Podge

Gold paint OR crystal rhinestones

Decorative napkins

Step 1

Apply an even coat of Mod Podge onto the heart.

Step 2

Take the paper napkin that you have chosen and separate the back from the front.

Toss the back.

Decide on the design on the napkin that you want to use and cut it out.

Be sure to leave enough tissue to cover the bottom and the sides of the heart.

Step 3

Apply your napkin to the heart.

I like to start in the middle and gently press it down working my way out to the edges.

Let completely dry.

Step 4

Once the heart has completely dried, take a sanding block or sand paper and lightly sand the edges to remove the excess napkin.

Step 6

Now for the fun part!

Decorating the dish.

On my first dish I added in DecorArt Metallic gold paint to the edges for a clean, elegant look.

Placing rhinestones onto a heart

On the second dish I added tiny rhinestones around the lip of the heart dish.

So cute and perfect for those that love a little bling.
