Form Or Function

I can’t believe I’m asking this but – do you believe in form or function?

Simply put – pretty or it works well.

I’m a big believer that you can and should be able to have both.

Let me explain.

When we remodeled our kitchen a few years ago ( phase 1) we also purchased these bars stools.

So pretty, but right away they were scratching up my new engineered hardwood floor.

So I bought these felt pads that go on the bottom of the chair legs.

And it worked for a little while.

But they were sticky, collected dust, dirt and hair.

Ugh.

Next I thought that these would be a good solution.

Umm…. no.

These really beat up my floor.

So when I saw another influencer suggest these my first thought was NO WAY!

But I had to come to terms with the fact that I could pay $14.99 for these or spring for a new hardwood floor.

You know I broke down and ordered these.

And you know what?

I’m don’t hate them.

They fit well and don’t scratch up my floor.

They come in several sizes and colors to best find the ones that match your decor.

Speaking of my floors, before I put the chairs back down I needed to address the scratches.

I love these stain markers for engineered hardwoods.

Again, they come in several color that make it super easy to match the stain of the wood.

Just color the floor where your scratches or scuffs are.

( Speaking of dry could my hands look any drier?)

Let sit a minute and then wipe off with a clean paper towel.

It’s like magic!

The floors look great and I can honestly say that I barely notice the floor protectors anymore.

So form or function?

While these aren’t high on my list of pretty things, I’ll take this as win for both.

They certainly make my floor happy.
