Guest Bedroom Refresh
Happy Tuesday friends! I’ve been so busy here at The Castle with organizing, purging and deep cleaning. I get this way after every Christmas holiday. Since we hosted both of our families Christmas this year, I’ve been taking stock of what worked and what didn’t. Which is why I’m sharing my plans for this guest bedroom refresh.
When we downsized two years ago we knew that moving from 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths to 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths would be a challenge.
How could it not be when you are trying to sleep 15 to 20 people?
However, we thought we had it worked out.
But we did not.
What we need is another bedroom and full bath, however that’s not going to happen.
So I decided to figure out how to maximize the space we have.
After thinking on it, I decided that the three places we could maximize sleeping would be the FROG – finished room over the garage, a Murphy bed in the library and this guest room.
The FROG is going to become a bunk room that sleeps 9.
This room, which is small had a queen bed, a dresser, 2 night stands and a chair in it.
I began looking around for ideas.
When I saw this room, I knew!
Twin beds with a trundle or a blow up bed would get me an extra place for someone to sleep.
At this point, even one more bed counts!
I started looking for twin beds.
Since I’m on a tight budget and due to supply issues, I decided to try estate sales, Amazon Marketplace and Craigs list.
Did I mention I needed 2?
Doesn’t sound hard, but it proved to be a challenge!
I finally found two of these solid wood headboards.
Painted white they could be quite pretty!
I already have a pretty black and white guest room similar to my inspiration photo, so I decided that I needed to go in a different direction for this room.
Sticking with the gray/blue walls, chandelier and possibly the color scheme of navy and emerald green just made sense mainly due to the budget.
I’m thinking of a quilt set like this.
I love these birds from Ballard Designs, but again budget, so I’ll be looking for something similar.
Maybe a William Morris Print like this one?
I’m not putting the hot pink chair or the flamingo accessories back into the room.
So a few new accessories and throw pillows are going to be added.
I love this pillow!
Although I have to remember that it needs to be both feminine and masculine, it’s still a contender.
This blue and white buffalo check isn’t too shabby either.
So it’s time to make some big decisions, roll up my sleeves and get busy!
Stay tuned for a fun guest room refresh – coming soon.
