My Living Room Is Blue

My Living Room is Blue

On Tuesday morning my living room looked like this. My living room decor for the past few years has been mostly neutrals with a dash of black and a pretty green turquoise. Today, my living room is blue! In fact, it started looking a lot bluer by Tuesday evening!

I blame it on my hip.

Unfortunately, I tend to curl up on the sofa and as I’ve gotten older my hip doesn’t like it!

It was suggested that I sit in a chair that I couldn’t curl up in.

One big problem: this was the only chair in the room that wasn’t The Hubs recliner.

While it’s really pretty, it is very uncomfortable!

I have been searching high and low for the perfect chair for some time.

And then a friend suggested that I look at Pier 1.

Let the heavenly choir sing!

I found not only this beauty, but also an ottoman to match also.

I’ve told you before that my decorating style is “If you give a mouse a cookie” and this chair is a beautiful illustration of that.

Nothing in my living room, besides the sofa and The Hubs recliner matches my new chair.

Nothing!

So, the search for a new rug, new curtains and new accessories has begun!

I was at Hob Lob on Wednesday, where I found pillow covers on sale!

I found these steel blue ones that match perfectly for $4.99!

As you can see, the rug and accessories definitely must change!

If you are looking for pillow covers, Hob Lob has a ton on sale right now.

This shiny beauty would be perfect for a tweens room!

Not looking for anything shiny?

Then how about a luxurious velvet?

Or you want to step out on the wild side.

Either way you go, you can’t beat these prices on pillow covers!

On my shopping trip, I also picked up a few other pillows, throws and accessories, however I think I will wait to share those until I get all of the rest of the room put together!

Little by little, my living room is looking blue.

I have to say, I’m really loving it!

  1. Your room is looking so nice! That chair is awesome. I often drool over the chairs at Pier 1.

Love your new blog look too. 🙂

    1. Thank you Stacey. I’ve still got a ways to go, but I’m loving a lighter, brighter look – on both the living room and the blog! lol

  2. Loved this article! Have bought furniture at Pier 1 but nothing so pretty. My furniture is neutral and painted accent wall blue with blue toss pillows from Home Depot. It works because artwork are all beach scenes. Thanks again for this article!

    1. Joanne you living room sound so pretty!I have to admit that buying a chair with a pattern was a big leap for me as I usually only do neutral furniture too. So far, I’m really loving it….

  3. I have had my eye on that chair too! They have tons of different patterns in that style as well.
At our Pier One they have it displayed up high and you can’t try it out.
    Is it comfortable?
    I love it!!!

    1. Shelly they do have a ton of patterns! Yes, the chair is comfy. I had sat in similar chairs at other stores that made you lean back too far. I felt like I was looking at the ceiling. This one, at first, felt like it had too much give in the lumbar area. But the give allows you to sit normally. No looking at the ceiling.

    1. Yes, Pier 1 has come a long way! When my friend suggested looking there I was surprised. They had a ton of patterns and styles. Who knew?

  4. Beautiful new chair…love the new pillow with it.
I am going to add some blue to my living room and maybe, if I can find a new rug, in my dining area…I used blue for so many year, I got burned out on it…now, I’m ready to add a tiny bit …

    1. Thank BJ! Years ago I had blue in almost every room. Like KariAnne from Thistlewood said” It was my boyfriend for years, then we broke up!” lol. Lately I see it everywhere and I realized that I really missed it. I can’t wait to see how you add blue into your house, it’s already so beautiful. Show pics!
