One Room At A Time – Friday Update

One Room At a Time

Woo Hoo! It’s Friday! And you know what that means? It means it’s time for One Room At A Time – Friday update! I am so here for it.

Last week was so busy that I wasn’t sure I’d get much done.

Thanks goodness that  the DIY Challenge was on Wednesday and the theme was home improvement or I might not have gotten my wallpaper up!

And let me tell you, my wallpaper was a game changer for me and my half bath!

One Room At A Time Half Bath

In case you missed it, last Friday I shared my inspiration board with you.

You can see it here.

My plan was to have the old lighting removed and the new lighting put in.

Add wallpaper to the wall above the sink.

And anything else that was on my list that I could get done.

Before I could install the wallpaper, I had to put in the wiring for the new lighting.

Which was way more of a project than I had anticipated.

First we removed the old light fixture.

Then we ran the wiring for the sconces. ( This was the difficult part)

Once that was done we patched any holes.

Next, I had to remove the texture on the wall behind the sink so that the wallpaper would adhere correctly.

Thank goodness before I started sanding my life away Terrie came up with a better plan!

You can see it here.

Once I had filled in the texture I put a clear sealer over the smooth wall.

Next, it was time to wallpaper.

I chose this large patterned botanical print in a peel and stick paper.

This was my first time installing a peel and stick.

Let me tell you it was like wrestling a ten pound pig into a five pound sack!

Thank goodness I had a little help.

Now I would have been happy just getting the lighting wired and the wallpaper up, however the Hubs decided to go ahead and install the sconces and hang the mirror.

And I am so glad that he did.

It made that wall come to life!

I cannot tell you how much I love this wall.

For the first time in the almost 3 years that we have been in this house I finally feel like this room is what I envisioned.

And it’s a great feeling!

We still have a lot to do and I’ll be sharing it all with you over the next week or so.

Be sure to check in often to see what new projects have been completed.

Also, don’t forget to head on over to Terrie’s at Decorate And More With Tip and Teresas at Through A Vintage Door to see what they accomplished this week!

    1. Thanks Terrie. I have to say the wallpaper choice was a bold move for me as I tend to stay on the safe side with decor choices. But I am so glad that I did.

  1. It’s unbelievable what wallpaper can do .. I’ve always been a fan of wallpaper.. Believe it or not but wall paper only came back into fashion here in the last year or two.. I love this so much and really excited to see the end results
    Stunning and great Job Tammy!!
    Teresa!

    1. Thanks Teresa! I really love the look of wallpaper, it’s the removal that I have hated. However, I feel like the peel and stick will be super easy to remove if I get tired of it.

  2. Tammy, this is STUNNING!! Lol, like wrestling a ten pound pig into a five pound sack. That’s hilarious! My niece and grand niece have just done a couple walls in each of their homes together, and they made it sound like it was like eating a piece of cake. Glad to get some truth to the matter. But it really looks so sharp! Love the sconces and mirror too. Great job!

    1. Thank you Rita! We are loving the wallpaper so far. You definitely need two people to put the peel and stick wallpaper up. Or maybe it’s just me! ha!
