Painted End Table

Painted End Table 8I tend to lean toward furniture that has a lot of detail and curves. However, in the past few years I have found a few pieces that I love that are more stream lined. This painted end table is one of them.

Painted black endurable

I found this very dusty, poorly painted mid-century modern end table at a garage sale. Even though it was dusty and painted hot mess, it was very sturdy and I could visually exactly how to give it a little life. I wanted to paint it black – again – and I wanted to give it a high gloss shine.

And then I went to Hobby Lobby. Have y’all been to their knob and drawer pull section lately? Oh, my goodness! It’s the bomb. I only wanted about ten different new styles. But this Agate  drawer pull caught my eye. I loved it so much that I immediately changed my mind about how I wanted to finish the end table.

Here’s the “end” result. ( sorry I couldn’t resist!)   Navy and gold! The front feet had a brass cap on them – which you couldn’t see because of the awful paint. I polished those up and ….

The drawer sides had the worst over spray ever, so I painted them gold to tie into the gold on the legs and on the agate pull to finish the end table.

I have to say that even though this table is totally different than what I had envisioned to start with, I think that the final result feels like it was always suppose to be this way. In fact I like it so much it is going to be a really tough decision to keep it or sell it.

Until next time…
