The Front Porch

Decorating the front porch

Welcome everyone! I hope that you had an amazing weekend. Today I’m introducing a new series ” One Room At A Time”. I’m not sure if you know it or not, but every Wednesday Corine from Junk to Gems, Terrie from Decorate And More With Tip and I all share a video series that features either decor, crafts  or      organization. We decided to take it a step further and share a week full of blog and video fun called One Room At A Time. The room we are starting on is The Front Porch.

Black rocking chair

When we moved into our house 18 months ago, I brought with me a wrought iron patio furntiure set, 2 new black rocking chairs, flower pots and various other patio decorations.

I quickly decided that black and hot pink would be the perfect colors to go with our new gray and white house.black and white stripe patio cushion

We replaced the old patio love seat and chair cushions with these pretty black and white striped cushions.

We also added some pink and white checked pillows.

Add in a few door mats and rugs, 6 or more flower pots full of flowers and some garden decor and our porch was pretty cute.

And while last years patio was cute, it could be so much better!

As you can tell from my inspiration board, it’s time to add more color, some new rugs and door mats.

Some new pillows and  garden flag.

Add a little fun whimsy and we are looking at an entirely new looking front porch.

I cleaned and spruced it up a bit in the Spring, but with all the pollen and rain we’ve had there is a thick layer of dust.

So back to square one.

The only thing that I won’t be cleaning, sprucing up, painting or adding anything to is the flower pots.

They have done really well with all of the rain and coolish temps here in North Texas.

Here’s this weeks schedule:

Tuesday – Fun painting project.

Wednesday – Video of a project.

Thursday – How to Front Door Wreath, 10 on the 10th

Friday – Reveal day, blog and video of the front porch.

All week long is going to be packed with cleaning, projects and all sorts of things to make our front porch the place we want to hang out!

I hope you’ll join us.

Until next time….

  1. Tammy I love the theme you are using for your Summer porch this year. It is going to be so pretty when you are done. I love the hot pink and the black. Can’t wait to see it all finished. So exciting!!!

  2. I know how much work it is to clean your porch. Our entire driveway and porchette is made of the same aggregate. It looks nice but I waste a lot of water trying to keep it clean. I hose it all to the gutter in the street. :/ It’s also made me never walk on it without shoes. Tears up the bottom of my feet. Your porch is looking great with or without any added cuteness. Happy Summer!

    1. Cindy you are so right about the aggregate! When we put our pool in last year the builder wanted to extend the aggregate around it. Umm, no thanks! I’d be wearing shoes into the pool! It’s super hard to keep dirt and dust out of it. I told the hubs we needed to put brick on the front porch, however we both know that’s never going to happen! lol

      1. No shoes in the pool. This ain’t summer camp! 😂 When my hubs sees me out there hosing down the driveway and the street, he says -you don’t need to hose down the street too! 🤷🏻‍♀️

    1. Corine – this color scheme is WAY out of my norm. I did add pink to the porch last year, but this is a lot of color for me. Just loving bright happy colors this summer!
