Updating the Guest Bathrooms

I’ve been under the weather this week. So not much has gotten done if it can’t be done from the sofa. I hate weeks like this! Updating the guest bathrooms has been on my mind for quit sometime. Mainly, new flooring. I’m not fooling myself though. I know that once the flooring is done, I’m going to want to replace the ugly countertops. Of course, a new mirror would mean new lighting! See? That’s how it goes here at the castle.

This is my inspiration photo.  I love it. Let’s start with floor my tile decision.

The first guest bathroom that I’m starting with is my black and white bathroom. Neither guest baths are terribly large. Just your basic sink vanity, toilet and bath tub shower.

When we moved into this house, the previous owner had put up the worst wallpaper ever!

Mustard yellow with huge urns filled with flowers and fruit. I tried to remove the wallpaper to no avail. It would not come off!

I finally threw my hands up in the air, grabbed a glass of wine and decided to just paint over it.

I KNOW! Not the best solution and I don’t recommend it. However, it worked!

There is  a lot of white. White tile, white tub, white toilet, white bead board on one wall…

You get what I’m saying?

So I painted the walls black.

And I love it.

Back to the tile. My first thought was to go with this hex penny tile. So classic.

Then I saw this beautiful basket weave marble.

So in love!

However, at $28.00 per tile it was a little out of my budget.

And then I saw this tile. Let the heavenly choirs sing!

At first, I was worried it would be too busy for such a small space.

So I purchased four tiles, that complete a full pattern.

I laid them out in my bathroom and totally fell in love.

At 1.50 per tile it is well within my budget!

I cannot tell you how excited I am.

Now that I’ve got the tile pick out, I’m on to other necessities.

I’m thinking about this sink.

And I’m totally crushing on this bathroom mirror!

Of course, as I start updating the guest bathrooms any of the accessories could change.

Until next time…
