Terri’s Black Bed
A few months ago my sweet seester Terri sent me photos of a house that she wanted to buy. It was a craftsman bungalow that was so cute! I immediately fell in love with it! We got busy buying, painting and repurposing furniture for her new home. Over the next few months I will be sharing her new home with you. Today we are starting in the Master bedroom. I am so excited to share Terri’s black bed with you.
Here’s the first photo she sent to me. I could just see sitting on a porch swing in the summer time on that front porch!
Here’s what it looks like today. Not really any changes just a bigger picture. It has so much potential!
I bought this BIG black bed a few years ago thinking I would put it in my bedroom, but the Hubs wasn’t sold on it. So it sat in storage until now. When I say it is big, I mean it is a Queen size ( what else would it be?) bed that measures 6 foot tall! As you can see here, I am standing on a tall barstool to paint it!
I used Junk Gypsy’s black paint, did a little distressing and a wax topcoat to finish it off. It. Is. AWESOME.
Terri’s bedroom is average in size. It is painted a pale yellow and has white trim. The entire house has the most beautiful hardwood floors you have ever seen.
It had an angled bump out with two windows and the bed fits in it perfectly! We are still looking for the perfect rug, but haven’t found it yet.
As you can see the turquoise side tables that we refinished were the exact size we needed.
In this room we painted the bed, painted and redesigned the chandelier, painted the lamps , night stands, dresser, and painted the cross. I think the only thing we didn’t paint was the mattress! I’ll share how and what we did in later posts.
Have you ever seen a bed this big? It may be big, but it is the show stopper in this room. I am so glad we didn’t put it in my bedroom because it feels like it was always meant to go in Terri’s master bedroom!
Until next time….
Tammy

That bed painted black is gorgeous! I have already decided that I want a black and white bedroom in my next house with the bed an furniture being black. I will need to add some turquoise accents in it too….love how this room looks!
Thanks AnnMarie! I love it too. It’s a good thing I was painting it for my sister, or I might have kept it for myself! 🙂
The bed is fabulous. And the pops of color enhance it.
Thanks Debra. I think my sister did a really great job of choosing her colors..
What a beautiful job! The room looks amazing! Love love the turquoise night stands!
Thanks MJ! It was a really fun room to work on.
That is one big bautiful bed! And the room looks really nice as well. I love the colors that you’ve used in there.
Thank you Mary. My sister did a great job in choosing her colors, so warm and inviting!
I love her house, too! And you’re right, the bed fits perfectly there. You chose great complimentary, cheerful colors to go with the black. Thanks for sharing over at Vintage Charm! Hope to see you there again next week! xoKathleen
