Bring New Life To A Doormat

faded doormat

Hello! Today I’m sharing a quick and easy way to bring new life to a doormat. And it’s so easy to do, it’s almost embarrassing to share it with you.

It’s the time of year when I’m starting to Spring clean and drag out all of the Summer decorations. Every year I pull out the decor, clean  it , spruce it up or toss out anything that isn’t looking so good. One of the things that I consistently toss is the coir doormats. They always look faded and worn. Which I hate.

Well, this year as I looked at my floral summer doormat and  thought what if?

Paint and brushes to paint a doormat

What if I could make it brighter and more colorful just by adding paint?

It couldn’t hurt anything, right?

So I pulled out all of the acrylic multi-surface paint colors that were in the doormat and got busy!

I just used a 1/4 inch flat brush and stippled new paint directly on top of the old paint.

And you know what?

It worked!

Now I know that you may look at the after picture and think that there isn’t much of a difference.

Well, there isn’t suppose to be if you match the new colors to the old colors.

BUT, it is bright and happy again.

In fact, the paint looks almost as good as when it was brand new.

Which is exactly what I wanted!

I love it when I can spruce something up for very little or no money and keep using it.

Don’t you?

What better way to bring new life to a doormat…

Or a flower pot…

Or a lantern!

You get the idea.

Until  next time…
