My Bedroom Style

This Friday is Day one of  One Room At A Time. This time the girls and I are doing a refresh on our Master Bedrooms. So when I started contemplating what I wanted to do in my master, I had to decide exactly what was my bedroom style.

I have a confession.

When we moved into this house three years ago I literally moved the furniture into the exact same spots that I had them in our old house.

And I haven’t done a thing in there, except to decorate for Christmas, since!

It’s time to hang a few things on the wall and figure out what I want this room to look.

Blue Bedroom

I made a list of what I love.

Number one – I love a blue bedroom.

It’s super calming and restful for me.

Also, I’m probably never going to have a bed without a white matelasse quilt on it.

It’s the perfect weight, color and style for me.

Layers

I love a bed that has layers, texture and pattern.

Let’s start with a neutral quilt, add in a duvet folded at the foot of the bed and then add in a ton of pillows in different co-ordinating patterns !

Yes, please.

Luxurious Sheets

I grew up sleeping on 100% cotton sheets and I still love them over microfiber ones.

Although I do have a really great set of microfiber sheets that are super soft, so often the Microfiber sheets can feel a little like plastic to me and they are hot.

While I tend to stick to white, soft blue or gray sheets I have to admit I LOVE sheets that have pattern and coordinate like you see in the photo above.

Plus, they had me at the mice!

Aren’t they sweet?

Black and white toile bedroom

Toile or Florals

I’m a big sucker for toile or floral bedding.

Since my husband is just OK with them I tend to add them in here and there against neutrals.

So it’s a win for both of us!

Monograms

I also love a great monogram.

What can I say?

I live in the south!

Sexy Curves

When looking at buying furniture I love soft, sexy curves.

A fun turned leg, a sweeping tall headboard, or a rounded back.

Again, soft curves with floral patterned fabric against neutrals.

Sigh…

Inspiration

I was getting into a groove on finding all of the things I loved when I saw this bed.

It has everything I love.

Large headboard, neutral bedspread, floral duvet with a co-ordinating dust ruffle.

Lots of matching pillows with a monogram!

What’s not to love?

BLue BedroomAnd after looking at all of the photos that I had compiled I realized that my bedroom style is…

Drum roll please!

Traditional or Grandmellinial style!

So this is where I’m starting from and I can’t wait to finish it up!

Be sure and check back in on Friday for my inspiration board and my video tour and plans on Facebook!

Until next time….

    1. I’ve always just considered my self kind of Traditional, but a few years ago a few people mentioned that I had a lot of “whimsy” in my home and it got me thinking. I still love traditional, neutrals with a touch of color, but I guess that explains all of the bold wallpaper I love!
